Are you interested in becoming a welder? Irving Shipbuilding Inc. (ISI) is partnering with Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) to provide a customized training program that will invest in the future of Canada’s marine industry and the skilled tradespeople who build it.
This customized training program provides free tuition.
Irving Shipbuilding will cover the costs of all aspects of the training for 80 students across four programs in total for the two-year initiative.
This includes instruction, facilities, texts, tools, personal protective equipment (PPE), classroom supplies, student fees, parking and student services.
Students will apply through ISI and be enrolled by NSCC. Program participants will have access to the same supports provided to NSCC students, while adhering to all NSCC policies.
Graduates who meet ISI's minimum requirements will be considered for employment.
Applications for the Marine Trades Initiative are currently closed. Future intake dates and application information will be posted on this page when they become available, and we encourage interested candidates to check this page regularly for updates on program availability, eligibility requirements, and application timelines.
